Poquita The Pokey Little Pit Bull

Poquita The Pokey Little Pit Bull

Poquita (then Goochie) came into Clackamas County Dog Services on 10/16/07.  She was there until 12/14/07 when she was released into our rescue, Dog Rescue Around Washington.

A 41lbs she was a tiny little pocket pit, but built pretty solid.   Brown with a black face she settled right into my house.  Pokey is single handedly responsible for the lifting of the ‘no dogs on the couch’ rule.   Great with my cats and good with my dogs she was super easy to foster she found her forever family not soon after.

Fast forward three years.   Pokey has been living with her new family and human sister and even got to move into a big house with her own yard!  Unfortunately for Pokey, an intact male Pit Bull broke into their yard and attacked Pokey.  Being a dog, Pokkey fought back but definitely got her little but kicked.   She required some staples, pain meds and antibiotics but she healed right up.

Unfortunately for Pokey, the Home Owners Association changed their mind about Pokey being ok, and the HOA kicked both the dogs out.  Pokey’s family was given seven days to re-home her and the other family was given 24 hours to have him removed.  Pokey’s mom called, sobbing and explained the situation.  Unfortunately there wasn’t much recourse so we told her Pokey would be welcome back in DRAW and specifically back with me for foster care.

She’s as lovely as ever.   My cats love her and she loves the cats, she’s been to work and hung out in the office with me all day and she still likes to sneak onto the couch.

No dogs on the couch!

Right after we got her, Chris got really sick and Pokey napped him back to health:

Snow is fun!
