Geek Chic Cosmetics Swatches

Super duper happy to get my latest Geek Chic order so I’ve swatched them up for you!

First we have N7, You Have A Destiny, Touched By Darkness, Eyes Of The Werewolf and Blood Bond.

Inside under a bright light with no flash.

And outside in bright sunlight.

And next up are Princess In Distress, We Are Coming, Universal Destiny, Bad Wolf and lip gloss in Momo.

Photographed under a bright light with no flash.

Outside in bright sunlight.

I whipped up a super quick EOTD with  Eyes of the Werewolf, Princess In Distress and Touched by Darkness.   N7 foiled with Duraline as liner.

FOTD with Chinovi’s Hera, Hermes & Hades

I have to say that the Oh My Gods collection from Chinovi is one of the best thought out and conceptualized collections that I’ve seen in a long time.  Many times you get a collection that’s HUGE  but has no cohesiveness to it or you’ll get a company that seems to release the same collection over and over again.  This collection is well designed and sanely sized.

I tried a different shadow application than I normally use and I’m pretty happy with how it came out.  It enabled me to use a darker color in such a manner that it seemed appropriate for my work place.   I’m definitely going to try this style with some other brighter/darker colors and see how much fun I can have with it.  I also think  this would look awesome with complimentary colors as long as they were different levels.  Yay…..experimenting!
Face:  Smashbox Photofinish primer with SPF under Urban Decay Naked foundation in 1.0.  Set with Evil Shades matte primer and finished with Brazen’s Fierce & Flawless.

Cheeks:  Meow’s Canna

Lips:  Nude liner with Lovesong by MOI over the top.   Too Faced Borderline used on lip line to prevent feathering.

Eyes:   TFSI under T:T Infinity base in Milky Way.   Chinovi colors used:   Hades it outer corner, kept tight to crease and also applied lightly  under outer corner of lower lid with a small angled eyeliner brush.   Hermes used all over lip and up above Hades to blend it out as well as to middle portion of lower lid.  Hera applied heavily to brow bone up to brow as well as inner corner.   One coat of black mascara and Brazen’s Raquel on brows.

Chinovi Oh My Gods Swatches

My sample set of the new Oh My Gods collection from Chinovi came today.   As I peered at the lovely colors in the little baggies I just knew I couldn’t wait and wanted to swatch them right away.   All swatches are done over Detrivore primer and photographed under a bright light with no flash.

First we have Aphrodite, Apollo, Ares and Artemis.

Then we have Hades, Hephaestes, Athena and Dionysus.  I spelled Hephaestus wrong in the photo…..oops!

And we finish up with Hera, Hermes, Poseidon, Olympian and Zeus.

I had so much fun swatching these and I can’t wait to try them with a look tomorrow.  I’m thinking Hades, Hermes and Hera!  This is a limited edition collection so if you want to try something, don’t wait!

FOTD with BFTE Hazy Skies & Colorado’s Front Range

I totally didn’t realize until editing these photos that I had a check of kale stuck to my lip…ha!  I edited it out of all the pics for your viewing pleasure.

Face:  Brazen Defy Gravity under Urban Decay Naked foundation in 1.0.   Set with Evil Shades matte powder and finished with Brazen’s Fierce & Flawless.

Cheeky:  Brazen’s Amorous

Lips:   Brazen’s Muse over MAC Dervish

Eyes:  TFSI under Tick: Tock Infinity base in Milky Way.  BFTE colors used; Hazy Skies on center of lid and middle portion of lower lid with Colorado’s Front Range on outer V and beyond crease.   Beautiful used on inner portion of lid and Baked used to blend out Colorado’s Front Range up to brow.   One coat of black mascara.

Evil Shades Swatches

I finally got around to swatching my new Evil Shades color.  I swear, the more I work with this company, the more I fall in love with the products.   These swatches were done over Detrivore primer and photographed under a bright light with no flash.

First up we have Danger Sox, Phyrra’s Fantasy, Nymphette, Mudkip and Jupiter’s Reject.  Jupiter’s Reject was the surprise hit for me and I kind of want to try it out with Phyrra’s Fantasy.  It would be so fresh and springy!

Next up are Mordant, Eplefe, Victorian  Night, The City and Simply Gray.   Eplefe really impressed me as did Simply Gray.

Nocturne Alchemy Reviews

Nokturne: Blue Topaz Kobalt:  What is Blue Topaz? It was requested within the Pyramid that a Blue Musk be offered as a Nokturne. We have been searching all over the world for the perfect single note of Blue Topaz and we found a few but none stood up to the Nokturne name until one day it had occurred to me the Blue Musk, that became a new nameBlue Topaz, needed a little something special within it. So we began pouring, ever so slowly, Kobalt (Vanilla Orchid) into Blue Topaz and what was created was a beautiful symmetry of sensual scent. Why Blue Topaz? One day when testing this with Jacek, I looked down at the white gold ring I wear with a blue topaz on it and Jacek said, “yes, that would be a nice name for it”. Both masculine and feminine and perfect for a Nokturne Duality. Bastet and I have worn this and both of us talked about the sense of harmony and tranquility and how this perfume lifts the spirit, body and mind. Will there be a future Blue Topaz single note? Possibly…but until then…Kobalt is the perfect note for this new Nokturne Duality!

In bottle: Spicy vanilla flower

Wet on skin:  A bit of a floral creaminess has emerged.   Hmmm….something has gone *slightly* mothball on me…’s the spiciness mingling with something.

Dry on skin:   Ok, the mothball has given way to a more creamy floral.  It really smells like carnation to me which I really like but it rarely works with my chemistry.

Verdict:  After this dries down it’s really pretty on me and I’m glad I got a bottle.

Karkade Summer Hessonite: Hibiscus Leaf of Aswan, Sugar Resin, Aged Nokturne:Hessonite (Alexandrian Patchouli, organic), with Egyptian and Indian Black Tea.

In bottle: Woodsy!  Definitely some patchouli.

Wet on skin:
The patchouli softens a little bit and the tea comes to the front.  As it settles I can pick up on the sugar resin and definitely the hibiscus leaf.

Dry on skin:  Once it’s dried down there’s a wonderful spiciness that comes out.  But it’s not a craft store kind of spice…..more like a spicy sugar and I think it’s the sugar resin.  What ever it is, it’s wonderful!   I imagine a patchouli scented toasted sugar cube.

Verdict:  I’ve never been overly fond of tea scents but the Karkade scents have been wonderful so far.  This is a wonderful sexy and sophisticated patchouli scent for the patch lovers out there!

Haunted Ambre Lab:  This is a preview Halloweenie scent!   Yay!   Nokturne:Hessonite, Rock Rose Resin, White Patchouli, Black Ginger, White Cardamom, Gold sap of Frankincense, Wood of Myrrh, Indian Cypriol, Black Cedar, Nutmeg, Black Peppercorn and N3 Musk.

In bottle:  Woodsy and slightly masculine.

Wet on skin:  Very woody and I can definitely pick up the musk and patchouli.   It’s pretty strong at this point and just a little on the sharp side.

Dry on skin:  So the woody component has settled down and the cardamom has come out along with the black peppercorn.   As it dries down something has added a really gorgeous creaminess that I’m totally digging.   The rock rose resin is just lingering very softly in the background.

Verdict:  Super duper gorgeous and I’m really glad I bought a bottle of this. If this is an example of what Halloween is to bring then I’m excited!

Brazen Blue FOTD

Face:  Smashbox Photo Finish primer under Urban Decay Naked foundation in 1.0 with MAC concealer in NW15.  Set with Evil Shades matte powder and finish with Brazzen’s Fierce & Flawless.

Cheeks:  Brazen’s Amorous blush

Lips:  MAC  liner in Dervish under Brazen’s Come Hither gloss

Eyes:  TFSI under T:T Infinity base in Milky Way.  Brazen colors used:  Revolution on outer portion of lid with Millennium on inner portion of lid.   Immaculate used to blend out Revolution up to brow and Ice Queen applied as a highlight under brow.   Scorching applied to inner corner only.  Music Box foiled with Duraline as liner and one coat of black mascara.   Brazen’s brow powder in Joan.

Evil Shades Gel Liner Swatches And Review

I received my order from Evil Shades today and was able to play with the new gel liners!   *muppet flail*   I ordered Bawdy, TIAL (Taupe Is A Lie) and Delirium and received samples of Blithe, Bedevil, Paladin, Havoc, Archeron and Empyrean for my consideration.   Gel liners happen to be my very favorite type of liner to use so I was super excited to try these out.

These swatches were done with a small eyeliner brush over bare skin and photographed inside under a bright light with no flash.

Aren’t they freaking gorgeous?!?   The stand outs for me are NTMS, TIAL, Delirium and Bawdy.  But I also really love Paladin and Havoc.

Never Too Much Sparkle (NTMS) is described as “blue, green, pink and purple sparkle in a sheer base. Wear over a dark liner for mega sparkle effect or build to create a pearly line of sparkle madness.”  This pretty much describes it and I think it would look gorgeous over Paladin.  Very easy and smooth application and achieved a solid color with one layer.

Taupe Is A Lie (TIAL) is described as “beyond description, it is brown/grey neutral with multicolor shimmer in one light/angle then it will switch to a muted metallic looking greyed purple with gold edges….in essence it is a lie, is it taupe which does not exist, or grey, brown, it is up to you to decide.”  This is like a very light cocoa with some mega sparkle and some champagne shift.    It would be so pretty for a spiced up neutral eye.  Very easy and smooth application and achieved a solid opaque color with one layer.

Blithe lived a short life…haha!  It’s already being pulled to be reformulated so I don’t have the description for you.   I would say it was a very light grass green with a golden shift.   It was very pretty, but the formula was so…..ummm….’fluffy’ that it was hard to apply evenly.  When I would try to make an opaque coat it would remove some of the product already placed.   I can’t wait to see what the owner comes up with in a tweaked formula!   Uneven and splotchy application but seemed opaque in the areas it stuck.

Bedevil is described as “bright hot pink with warm undertones and subtle blue violet shimmer *Please note this does stain*.”    First off, this didn’t stain my arm at all and I left the swatches on for a good hour whilst I drank my adult slurpee and ate a couple hot dogs.   I would call it a nice rose pink with a cool violet shift.   I also felt this color was just a bit ‘fluffy’ and could do with a minor tweak to the formula.  A bit uneven in application but was opaque with one layer.

Delirium is described as a “bright bold orange with very subtle hint of pink shimmer *Please be warned this does stain*”.  Originally the owner wasn’t going to offer this due to staining but I begged and pleaded and she gave in.   OMG, I LOVE it!   This one also didn’t stain my arm at all, but it did arrive pretty runny.  I popped it into the fridge for a half hour or so and it firmed right up.  I’d describe this one as a true orange with a soft pink shift.  Just my kind of color and it was very easy and smooth to apply and achieve opaque application with one layer.

Bawdy is described as a “rust/copper with golden shimmer and subtle green shift”.   Yep, that pretty much describes it.   I was expecting a more neutral color from the photos on the site but this is WAY better than I thought it was going to be.  I would say it’s a light green/brown duochrome and that’s one of my favorite combinations.   It’s simply gorgeous and I can’t wait to wear it on my eyes.    Very easy and smooth application and achieved a solid opaque color with one layer.

Paladin is described as a “bright blue velvet matte base with a strong teal shift”.   That description is pretty much right on.   It’s a nice deep cobalt blue with a very subtle but thorough teal shift.   It’s a blue that blue eyed gals can also wear and look nice it.   It’s *almost* a warm blue if that’s possible.   Very easy and smooth application and achieved a solid opaque color with one layer.

Havoc is described as a “bright red based purple with blue shimmer”.   I would call this an intense lilac with a cool blue shimmer.  Very easy and smooth application and achieved a solid opaque color with one layer.

Acheron  is described as a “blackened purple with pink shimmer *This one has hidden magic, when smudged it will turn to a deep black base with purple shift. **Please note this does contain carmine and is not vegan.**”  To me this is a lovely golden plum color.  I think this would look good on a lot of different colored eyes, especially blue, green or hazel.  Very easy and smooth application and achieved a solid opaque color with one layer.

Empyrean is described as a “black base with blue shift and blue shimmer  **This one contains a little magic, you can blacken it to pitch black with subtle blue shimmer by smudging it.”  This is a nice, matte not quite black color and perfect for every day wear.   Application was a little more picky but I was able to achieve an opaque application with just a bit of fiddling.

And I took some photos outside in the natural light just as the sun was starting to set.

So unfortunately there was an issue with one of the components in the gel eyeliners and they are being recalled and replaced with product that the owner is more comfortable with.  I’m sad that I won’t be able to use my lovelies but very happy at the quick and honest action and communication of the company.   This is the recall notice posted on the site:

Please, throw samples and full size away! I will be contacting customers individually to ensure everyone is made aware and I am happy to refund if you prefer.  I am pulling ALL of the gel liners due to an error with one of the base ingredient combinations from a new supplier. The preservative they used is not what I requested and leaves the product open to bacterial growth in humid conditions. I have tossed all of the product and will be individually contacting those who have recieved/purchased to ensure it is disposed of. The correct ingredient complex has been ordered from my regular supplier and I will be replacing and sending the corrected products as soon as possible. Please contact customer service with any questions. Thank You!

Brazen Swatches Part 3

Here we have Facade, Asphyxia, Exhume, Melodic and Revolution.   Revolution was my favorite of this bunch.

Next up is Innuendo, Jinx, Walk Of Shame, Incognito and Paradox.  Paradox is beautiful!

And finishing up this batch we have Last Call, Smug, Cleo, Dark Side and Bruja.   This was a tough call for me between Bruja and Last Call.

Brazen One Hot Summer FOTD

Brazen Swatches Part 2

And for more of the Brazen goodies!

First up are Ethereal, Catcall, Miss Independent, Vixen and Hades.   I really liked ALL of these but Ethereal and hades really caught my eye and I think they would like amazing together, don’t you?

Look at the sparkly in Hades:

Next up are Iced, Blatant, Aloof, Cold Shoulder and Turn It Up.  Blatant is by far my  favorite of them all.  I think this would look amazing paired up with Idol and Scorching.  Iced is also super gorgeous.

Now we have Sweet Affair, Afternoon Delight, Denial Twisted and Shenanigans.   Sweet Affair is simple stunning in person and I think would look really pretty with Shenanigans.

Brazen FOTD With Headstrong & Cheeky

This FOTD was inspired by my new favorite necklace from Elements & Artifacts.     It’s a really beautiful real purple with some natural orange flash in the middle of the stone.  It’s super gorgeous in person and I couldn’t capture it in photos.  Regardless, I’ll share my inspiration:

Face:  Smashbox Photo Finish primer under Holika Peach Girl BB cream with MAC concealer in NW 15.  Set with Evil Shades matte powder and finished with Brazen Fierce & Flawless powder.

Cheeks:  Brazen’s Frenzy

Lips:  Brazen’s Sloshed gloss over nude lip liner

Eyes:  TFSI under Tick: Tock Infinity base in Milky Way.   Brazen colors used:  Cheeky used all over lid and on middle portion of lower lid.  Headstrong applied to outer V and well up above crease and outer portion of lower lid.   Immaculate used to blend out Headstrong up to brow and Scorching applied just under  brow and inner corner.   One coat of black mascara and Joan brow powder on brows.

**NOTE If I were to do this look again I would use Incognito instead.  It came out a bit dark/dramatic for day time wear for me but I loved it none the less!  Luckily I was going to get my hair cut and everyone there looks hot or hip or funky so I fit right in.

Outside in natural light:

Brazen Swatches Part 1

I knew I had my work cut out for me when I received this haul today:

Since there is so much, I’m going to break this post up into four to five so be prepared for lots of Brazen goodness in the upcoming week.

Here are some One Hot Summer swatches:  Come Hither (gloss), Enigma, Tryst and Plunge.  Tryst was the hit of this set.

Next we have Ice Queen, Idol, Naughty Bits and Mischief.  I can already tell Naughty Bits will be a staple color for me.   It’s gorgeous and subtle.

And to finish out this set there are the following colors:  Mythic, Pharoh, Santa Margarita and Cheeky.  Santa Margarita is a color I can’t wait to play with.
