Wild Hybrid Valentine LE Reviews

I had the opportunity to review the new LE Valentine’s Day collection from Wild Hybrid, a lovely company from New Zealand.

Courtier’s TeaRaspberry jam and clotted cream, genteel perfumes and black tea.

In bottle: Jam and a very softly floral perfume.

Wet on skin: I can smell the jam and clotted cream, it’s quite soft and pretty.  Right away there’s a burst of bright tea but goes away quickly.

Dry on skin:  This is quite pretty.  There’s a slight ‘cold’ edge to it and added with the sweetness of the jam and silkiness of the clotted cream it’s lovely.   There’s just an edge from the black tea that dirties it up a little bit.

Verdict:  I actually liked this quite a bit more than I thought I would.   It’s soft and pretty but grown up and not a bit little girlish.

Eve’s Apple-Apple darkened with lusty vetiver and wily myrrh, wild heather, pink musk and tomato leaf.

In bottle:  Green and apply.

Wet on skin:  Like a dark and poisonous apple with a bit of something…….minty?  I think it’s the tomato leaf.

Dry on skin:  As it’s dried down, there’s a really fierce punch of the vetiver and a bit of the heather.    Smoothing all this out is the myrrh and it’s just sexy.

Verdict:  I love a great apple scent and this one is lovely.   It’s an intersting blend and I think it’s a nice take on an apple scent for people that maybe don’t normally like them.

La Petite Mort-A floral honey musk.

In bottle:  Honey!

Wet on skin:  Right as first is a big blast of honey….almost a powdery honey with a bit of musk.

Dry on skin:  This has settled into a very soft staright up honey musk.

Verdict:  Do you like honey?  Do you like musk?  Then buy this!   It’s a rare honey scent that I can wear.

Lover’s Walk-A moonlit beach walk.  Beach daisies, peony, spiced peach, cassia, honey, blue musk, citrus peel, petitgrain, golden resins and vanilla.

In bottle:  Floral.

Wet on skin:  I can pick up a bunch of the florals but mostly daisy with a bit of the honey and perhaps citrus peel.

Dry on skin:  As it dries down the florals settle to the back and I really pick up the golden resins and vanilla.   These work really well to soften and ground all the bright floral notes.

Verdict:  I like it and I didn’t think I would.   Typically a blend with any type of white floral doesn’t work for me.

Rose Of Cairo-Three roses, five vanillas, leather, ylang ylang and Egyptian musk.

 In bottle: Whew, all leather!

Wet on skin:  Rose with leather all over the place.

Dry on skin:  I tend to amp florals so I don’t get any of the vanillas or musk.   It’s a sharp slap of leather laying on a bed of roses.

Verdict:  If you like leather and roses then you should love this blend!

Temptation of Guinevere-Sugared ripe strawberries, saffron, frankincense and a drop of clove.  Note that the saffron may cause discolouration of skin and clothes.

In bottle:  Soft strawberry.

Wet on skin:  Right up front is strawberry with a soft blast of frankincense.  This is followed closely by just a touch of saffron.

Dry on skin:  As it’s dried down I pick up a bit of the clove wafting around the sugared strawberry.

Verdict:  This is a sweet yet deep blend of very sugary strawberry but grounded by the spicier notes.  I like it!
