Poesie Perfume Review

Hello hotties!  I know it’s been a while but I wanted to post up a review of a great new company that I tried for the first time, Poesie Perfumes! I really appreciated the fact that I was able to purchase the small apothecary bottles, a typical 5ml bottle as well as a larger 9ml bottle.  Customers love options! The branding on the packaging was spot on and quite posh. Everything arrived safe and sound.

Enchantress of Numbers: clean lemon and fresh lavender, corrupted by a ribbon of caramel and sweet amber.
In bottle: Clean and herby.
Wet on skin: Bright and lemony with a healthy whiff of lavender.
Dry on skin: As it dries down the caramel peeks out and it’s quite lovely with the lavender.  The sweet amber grounds everything with a dash of woodsy goodness.
Verdict: Quite lovely and would make a wonderful sleepy scent as well as a nice soft scent for those times you want something comforting and relaxing. Stays fairly close with medium sillage.
Codename Madeleine: rich butter cookies, heady jasmine blossom, bright cardamom.
In bottle: Sugary cardamom with soft jasmine.
Wet on skin: The jasmine is right up front and it’s gorgeous….rich and lush.
Dry on skin: As it dries I get a lovely waft of sugar cookies but they aren’t too buttery, they are nice and sugary.  The cardamom is lovely and fresh and it’s absolute perfection with the jasmine blossom.
Verdict: Jasmine is one of those notes that never seems to work for me but this blend is absolutely perfect….just gorgeous! I’ve been wearing it non-stop since I got it.  If you like a nice combination of foodie but but not too gourmand and jasmine with some spice, this is for you!
Just Like Heaven:  delicate lavender, heavenly marshmallow accord, resinous incense.
In bottle: Green and herby.
Wet on skin: First up is the lavender which is quite soft and cloud like – I think that’s the fluffy marshmallow. The lavender becomes a bit more sharp as the incense starts to blossom.
Dry on skin: The incense and lavender are combining to become an interesting combination of heavy and light. The marshmallow provides a nice cloud of sugary sweetness but it isn’t cloying.
Verdict: I’ll admit that I liked this a lot more than I thought I would.  It’s a warm a sexy scent, spicy but not at all artificial smelling. If you like resinous scents, you like this one.
Sixties Salad:  tangy pineapple, delicate pistachio, fluffy marshmallow.
In bottle: Very sweet and lightly fruity.
Wet on skin:  The first thing I get is pineapple and a brief whiff of pistachio.
Dry on skin: As it dries down, I get a lemony vibe with the sweetness of the marshmallow.  It’s not listed, but I swear I’m getting a light toasted coconut as well.
Verdict: If you like sweet, fruity scents, then you’ll like this. If you liked the tangy and weird fruit salad that you grandma made for holidays, then you’ll probably lie this as well. It’s light and whimsical.
Fan Dance:  sugar-dusted tart raspberries, vanilla bean.
In bottle: Sweet and fruity.
Wet on skin: It’s all tart raspberries right at first with a swirl of sugar. The vanilla bean is quite  soft at this point.
Dry on skin: It’s dried down to smell like tart fruit dusted with powdered sugar and drizzled with feathery vanilla syrup.
Verdict: This is a warm, sweet fruity blend that smells pretty much like how you’d expect it to. If you like sweet foodie blends, you’ll love this!
Too Dreamy: maraschino cherry, sweet amber, creamy sandalwood, rich oud, skin musk, green cherry stem.
In bottle: Woodsy and musky.
Wet on skin: It’s all woods and musk at first with a snap of green.
Dry on skin: The is the star now and it seems to be best friends with the musk. I’m still getting the green cherry stem but not really any of the maraschino cherry.
Verdict: If you like a heavier and more substantial blend, this might be for you. This comes off as unisex for me and would be equally appealing to those who like spicy or woodsy scent.  It’s not head shoppy at all to me. Good sillage and throw.
The Aviation:  candied violets, spicy juniper, freshly squeezed lemon juice, and a hint of cherry.
In bottle: cherry accord liquor.
Wet on skin: It actually smells a lot like the cocktail! It’s a light ethereal violet at first with a nice base of the juniper.
Dry on skin: As it dries down it’s become very soft and quite pretty. The lemon is giving it a nice zing and the sugary violets and cherry is so juicy.
Verdict: This is one of my favorite cocktails and I’m happy to say that this is also one of my favorite perfume oils. It’s sophisticated, sexy and unexpected. If you like a scent that’s not right up in your face, you’ll like this.  I could see this being a great warm weather scent. This stays close, like a comfy sweater. Medium sillage and throw.
Frosted Hummingbird:  Notes: toasted pecans, buttery cake, warm cinnamon, decadent cream cheese frosting, juicy pineapple, sweet banana.
In bottle: Rich and buttery.
Wet on skin: This is super buttery and rich with the heavy frosting, and the toasted pecans are just dancing around the edge.
Dry on skin: Now it starting to smell like a succulent pineapple that is just ever so lightly garnished on top of the frosting. There is just a touch of banana.
Verdict: If you’re a fan of gourmands, you will like this.  It’s very heavily foody with the cake and cream cheese frosting. Medium sillage and throw.
My two favorites are Codename Madeline and The Aviation.

I feel that to tell the story of Countess Erzebet Bathory never does the tale justice, as the entire truth of her crimes of depravity aren’t known for sure as she is known as one of the most prolific serial killers of all time, killing up to 650 women. It is said that she would summon young virgin women from the villages that surrounded her castle to come and work in her household which was a wonderful and prestigious dream come true for a peasant girl of such a lowly social stature. Sadly, the dreams of these women were soon dashed by the sadistic Bathory who, believing that it would grant her eternal youth, she would drain these unlucky young ladies life’s blood into her bath where she would luxuriate in the exsanguination – one of the most diabolical beauty treatments of all time!

BATHORY – Conjure Cosmetics Facial Serum: 100% cruelty free and 100% vegan. Inspired by the darkness of the Hallows season, I have developed the most amazing, Goth girl skin facial serum. It is all natural, non greasy and won’t clog pores. It is a blood red oil infused with alkanet root that is used to soothe skin irritation. The oil is a blend of deeply nourishing and softening fractionated coconut oil, wild crafted marula oil that is moisturizing, balancing, softens fine lines and reduces redness and organic sea buckthorn oil that heals sun damaged skin, acne, anti oxidants that slow the aging process, heals rosacea and other skin discolorations. Essential oils of rose, frankincense, patchouli and palo santo are gently added to soften skin, fight the aging process and lighten the complexion. This is a limited edition product at this price so don’t wait!

The Rhinestone Housewife loves Conjure Oils and we are always excited to see what new and exciting things they send out way.

Conjure Oils Hallows Reviews

Hotties!  I’m so excited to bring you these reviews.   As always, Conjure Oils has created some amazingly inspiring scents, just for you! Masterfully created with high quality ingredients, you are always guaranteed to find a scent that you will fall in love with.   These are now available  at The Rhinestone Housewife while supplies last.

Ayao – A whirling cyclone of crisp fall leaves fills the air coupled with slithering wisps of wood smoke, tonka bean and black plum.

In bottle: Wood smoke and something slightly earthy….maybe the swirling leaves?

Wet on skin:  It’s all wood smoke and tonka bean at first. The smoke continues to amp up but then settles nicely into the tonka and just a bit of rich plum.

Dry on skin: The smoke softly wafts into the background and the crisp leaves swirl right up front and they are a great compliment to the plum… and deep.  The tonka bean is the perfect note to finish it off.

Verdict: Deep and rich, without being heavy.  It’s dries down into a totally wearable scent.  Something tells me this will get even better with age. Medium throw and silage.

Caer Ibormeith – The joy and pain of true love and inevitable death: yew berry accord infused black patchouli, swan feather soft vanilla musk, red amber and stout clove.

In bottle: Soft pearly musk.

Wet on skin: The soft musk and clove are the first up and they are gorgeous!  The clove is not strong at this point but does ramp up a bit as of the red amber peeks out.

Dry on skin: The yew berry and red amber are having a party and I’m so glad I was invited! The patchouli is handled with a deft hand and the clove is soft and creamy.

Verdict: I’m quite possibly dead, this is so gorgeous. It really quite lovely, yet extremely unique….I don’t think I’ve smelled something like this before. I’ll definitely be keeping a bottle of this. This could be unisex.  Good throw and silage.

Charon – An ancient memory of Tunisian opium, precious oudh, aged tobacco and chthonic rhus khus.

In bottle: Tobacco and oudh.

Wet on skin: This blend opens with something woody…..maybe the chthonic rhus khus (vetiver)?  The opium and tobacco and right behind.

Dry on skin: The tobacco is really amazingly soft and lush and it’s so, so good with the opium.  The vetiver is used with a very subtle hand here and it really grounds this blend perfectly.

Verdict: Wow, another stunner.  This one is for those of you that want a unique scent that is warm and rich and sexy.  Unisex. Medium throw and silage.

Hekate’s Torch – Often depicted with two torches that allow her safe passage between the worlds, allow Hekate’s Torch to guide you along your path. A light in the darkness: earthen patchouli, apotropaic clove, spiritually uplifting frankincense, Persephone’s pomegranate and illuminated bergamot.

In bottle: Refreshing!

Wet on skin: The bergamot is bring and refreshing with the pomegranate adding a bit of fruitiness as it settles in.

Dry on skin: The pomegranate is really coming to the front and it’s so pretty.  The clove is very soft and hanging around in the background while the frankincense and earthy clove nestle together. Good throw and silage.

Verdict: Typically I don’t love bergamot but this oil seems to have the perfect balance of green, fruity and earthy.  This is so well blended and I LOVE the pomegranate, I’m also betting this will age really, really well!

King of Terrors – The musty shadows of the cemetery, haunted loam and moss, metal sting and arterial spray.

In bottle: Loamy ground.

Wet on skin: I can definitely pick up the musty darkness of loam and moss….this is deep and mysterious at this point. The metallic note has appeared and it’s a very interesting counterpoint to the brooding earthiness.

Dry on skin: As this dries and softens the damp earthiness settles in and mellows into a nice soft earthy musk.

Verdict: A very surprisingly wearable scent that stays close with mid level silage.   Unisex.

La Madama – Offerings of warm vanilla infused bourbon, juicy mangoes, star jasmine blossoms, cigar smoke and a pinch of blessed salt.

In bottle: Bourbon and soft tobacco.

Wet on skin: The star jasmine is right up front but it’s a bit of a foodie version with the mangoes and vanilla…quite lovely! The mangoes become more prominent just as the salt rolls in and gives it just a tiny touch of an aquatic feel.

Dry on skin: The warm rich vanilla bourbon and grounding the fruitiness of the mango and star jasmine. The softly wafting cigar smoke is the perfect compliment for this blend

Verdict: Gorgeous!  It’s so pretty, warm….like an embrace from a good friend – perfect for those that want a close scent. Unisex. Medium silage and throw.

Les Mortes – Still waters, crystal musk, beeswax candles, water lilies, white amber and sweet offerings of coffee and beignets.

In bottle: Water lilies and beeswax!

Wet on skin: This is very aquatic at first with a nice current of crystal musk and beeswax candles swirling around. This stays as a very pretty aquatic scent before it dries down.

Dry on skin: The white amber and crystal musk is absolutely stunning and it’s such a good choice with the water lilies.  As it continues to dry down the sweetness of the beignets appears but do not make this blend foodie.

Verdict: This scent is very interesting, aquatic but with some sweetness and richness that you don’t normally get.  It’s absolutely gorgeous and even though it’s got foodie elements, it’s not foodie in any way. Good silage and throw.

Libitina – A wistful and somber meditation on eternity: smoked amber, dragon’s blood, aged black patchouli, rose hips, cypress, white myrrh and black storax.

In bottle: Patchouli and dragon’s blood.

Wet on skin: Black patchouli, cypress and black storax are right up front….knocking on the door. The smoky amber and myrrh are right behind.

Dry on skin: This is very woodsy, dark and heavy. The patchouli is dark and mysterious but doesn’t take over the blend and the dragon’s blood is handled very gently.

Verdict: If you like dark and resinous blends, with woodsy and brooding notes….this will be right up your alley.  It’s got serious throw and silage.  Unisex.

Simbi – African green musk and violets, falling water, the spark of ozone and lightning struck sandalwood.

In bottle: Soft violets.

Wet on skin: Delicious falling water and violets hit you first….and it’s mesmerizing.  The green musk is just the right support for the violets.

Dry on skin: As this has dried down you get a just a tiny whiff of slightly charred sandalwood.  This grounds the whole blend into a very pretty but not cloying floral.

Verdict: A gorgeous floral but this a floral that anyone can enjoy.  It’s pretty and ladylike without being precious or cloying.  Medium silage and throw.

Thanatos & Lethe – Black opium, poppy flower, kush, vanilla flower, cannabis accord, blue lotus attar, aged patchouli and mimosa.

In bottle: Kushy!

Wet on skin: It opens up green and herby and I think that’s the cannabis accord.  It’s closely followed by the vanilla flower and opium. As it settles down, poppy flower and mimosa peek out.

Dry on skin: The blue lotus attar is has appeared as it dries down and it’s really pretty with the aged patchouli.

Verdict: This is a nicely unique blend of resins and florals – gorgeous, dark and rich.   Good throw and sillage.

Valkyrie – Honey mead from the halls of Valhalla, the smoke of oak and juniper fires from the battlefield and the magnificent golden musk of eternal glory.

In bottle: Honey and musk!

Wet on skin: At first sniff this is warm and rich with the honey mead and musk the most prominent. The juniper fire is just showing up, licking at the edges.

Dry on skin: The juniper is giving it a bit of a refreshing vibe and it’s so very pretty with the sweetness of the honey mead and richness of the golden musk.  I’m not sure of eternal glory smells like, but I suspect it’s like this!

Verdict: I’m literally dead and waiting for a Valkyrie to take me off to somewhere that smells like this because it is indeed glorious! It’s got foodie elements but isn’t foodie at all and it very refreshing.  I love this.  Good silage and throw. Unisex.

Wanyudo – An infernal and damned philtre of ginger root, red patchouli, tonka bean, cinnamon sticks and burnt marshmallow.

In bottle: Dry red patchouli.

Wet on skin: The red patchouli is here and it’s gorgeous!  It quickly partners with the ginger root and cinnamon sticks.  The cinnamon isn’t craft store-ish at all, but is dry and almost wispy.  The patchouli is receding as it dries down.

Dry on skin: This has settled into a gorgeous ginger scent, with the tonka bean lending a nice balance with the burnt marshmallow.  The red patchouli is just softly in the background and it’s a good base for this blend.

Verdict: I really love this.   It’s definitely a cinnamon and ginger heavy blend but it’s creamy and lush, not craft store smelling at all. Great throw and silage.  Unisex.

Washers At The Ford – A Victorian mourning fougere: bog moss, heather, pitcher plant, water poppy and emerald ferns under a slate gray sky that threatens torrential rain.

In bottle: Bright greens.

Wet on skin: The heather is mingled in with the emerald ferns and this really does smell like you are out in a garden, sitting among the greens and wild heather.  You can almost feel the storm on the horizon as you pick up a bit on ozone.

Dry on skin: The bog moss gives this blend the feel of air heavy with moisture during a storm.  The greens and heather smell like they’ve got a fresh, dewy layer of rain.

Verdict: Amazing!  This is very atmospheric and yet still wearable.  A great scent for those that enjoy aquatics, fresh greens and realistic, atmospheric scents yet still want something that’s totally wearable.  Medium silage and throw.
