Meow Swatches

All swatches done over Detrivore primer and photographed under a bright light with no flash.   First up we’ve got Bahia Solano, Bora Bora, Hanalei Bay, End Game and Hysteria.  My favorite is Hysteria.

Then we’ve got Pina Colada, Mimosa, Jungle Juice, Lazy Days and Chaos.  I’m loving Pina Colada and Jungle Juice.  Pina Colada is just about the most perfect highlight color ever.

Meow seems to really be knocking it out of the park with their soft and shimmery colors this summer.   Some of the shifts are really quite remarkable and if you would like to check them out, go here:

FOTD With Sleek Ultra Mattes IV Palette

I’m so sorry I’ve been absent from my blog.   We’re currently remodeling (replacing all the floors, the fireplace and painting) and I’ve been focusing on that.  Well, I plan to make it up to you!   I’m bringing you a FOTD today, with swatches and reviews from Beauty From The Earth as well as OCC Lip Tars coming up this weekend.  Oooooh!   Ahhhhhhhh.

Face:  Holika Peachy Girl BB cream over Smashbox oil free primer with MAC NW15 concealer set with Evil Shades matte powder.

Cheeks:  Meows Frozen Watermelon  (I’m loving this blush right now!)

Lips:  Brazen Balm Stick in Risque

Eyes:  MAC Untitled as primer and Sleek Matte Brights Palette colors.  Bammi used on lid with Strike on outer V and blended a bit above crease.   Prowl used on inner corner as well as to blend out Strike and up to brow bone.    MAC liquid liner in Defiantly Feline on upper lid and winged out a bit with Physician Formula liner in taupe on water line of lower lid.  One coat of black mascara.  Brazen brow powder in Raquel.

FOTD with Flaming Marshmallow and Heat Lightning (& day 18!)

A couple of weeks ago I entered an eye shadow naming contest with Meow Cosmetics.    The contest was to name a collection based on the joys of summer.    My entries were Kiddie Pool and Heat Lightning and Heat Lightning won!   The prize was a full sized shadow from the collection and I picked my color because it’s a gorgeous gold/orange described as “bright hot tangerine with golden iridescence”.  I love it!

Face:  Holika BB Cream in Baby Bloom, MAC concealer in NC15, Evil Shades matte powder and Brazen’s Fierce & Flawless as a finishing powder.

Cheeks:  Brazen’s Tantalize

Lips:  MAC Kiss Me Quick liner and Evil Shades lipstick in Jenaveve.

Eyes:  MAC Untitled under T: T Infinity Base in Milky Way.   Meow’s Flaming Marshmallow on outer V and into crease with Heat Lightning on lid and inner corner of bottom lid.   Brazen’s Immaculate on brow bone and Scorching under brow.   Mac Defiatntly Feline on upper lid with black pencil liner on lower water line.  One coat black mascara.

FOTD with Half Past Crazy and Atomic Clock (& day 76)

Lat night Chris and I went out to dinner at La Condesa and it was amazing!  We had the best gourmet tacos and fresh salsa you could imagine!

Face: BB cream and Face Time finishing powder.

Cheeks:  Ginger Torch by Meow

Lips: Nude liner with MAC Dazzleglass over the top.

Eyes:  MAC paint in untitled then Tick: Tock tester Infinity base.   All these were Tick: Tock pigments:  Half Past Crazy applied all over lid and up into crease as well as outer portion of lower lid.   Atomic Clock used to blend that out and also applied to middle of lower lid.  High Noon applied under brow and a little Digital applied to outer corner for some smokiness.   Black pencil liner applied and smudged on upper lid and also applied to water line on lower lid for a bit of smudge.   One coat black mascara.

FOTD with Brazen Tree Hugger and Vague (& Day 87!)

I’m still trying out my Brazen pigments and today I used two new ones.  I have pretty much only tried  the neutrals from Brazen but I’m really digging them right now.  I have some brighter colors on order but for now I’m enjoying a super neutral smokey eye type look.

I’m pretty happy with how the Brazen shadows apply….more like a pressed shadow than others I’ve tried.   They are blendable which I like and the ones I’ve tried haven’t been glitter bombs.   I’ll admit that burlesque has ruined me for glitter….I just don’t love it the way I used to.   They are deep and rich colors that last all day on me.

My skin is still shredded from my road trip adventures, my eyebrows are out of control and my allergies are acting up.  I didn’t really feel like doing a FOTD today but I did pledge 90 days of beauty so here it is! Or at least the closest I can come right now.

Face:  Holika Baby Bloom BB Cream.  Brazen Fierce & Flawless used as finishing powder.

Cheeks:  Meow blush in Snarky

Lips: Shiro Intertube in Three Wolf Moon

Eyes: Tick: Tock Infinity eye shadow base in Milky Way.  Brazen Tree Hugger applied to outer half of eyelid and up into crease.   Brazen Vague applied to inner half of lid and Brazen Forever applied up to brow and used to blend out the other colors.   Brazen Buzzed applied wet as liner for upper lid. Meow Sexpot used as a highlighter under brow.   One coat black mascara.

I wanted to match my Captain shirt today so I chose some cool toned eye shadows.   I picked some of my new Tick: Tock pigments to play with and am pretty happy with the results.

Face:  Holika Holika Baby Bloom BB cream, MAC concealer in NC15, custom finishing powder.

Cheeks: Meow blush in Forest Flame.

Eyes:  Tick: Tock Infinity primer in Milky Way, then Darkest Before The Dawn in crease, Clepsydra on center of upper and lower lid, Evening Dress applied to inner portion of upper lid.   I used First Birthday to blend out the Darkest Before The Dawn and also applied it to inner corner of eye.  Black eye pencil applied to lower water line and smudged onto upper lid.

Lips:  MAC In Anticipation liner with Brazen Gummie Lip Glaze in Cherry.

And of course Gimli wanted to see what was going on and help. Isn't he a HUGE help?!?

Disney Challenge for NTMS

My favorite makeup group had a new challenge this week…..Disney inspiration!   My two favorite colors are pink and orange so I chose as my inspiration the Cheshire Cat.    He’s cheerfully unhelpful and I just love him.  Now I know that traditionally the Cheshire Cat is purple and pink but I really like the purplish pink and orange color scheme so I ran with it.

Face:  MAC foundation and concealer in NC15 with custom finishing powder.

Cheeks: Aromaleigh in Sinister Rouge. (whiskers were added with liquid black liner and Sawrovski crystals)

Lips:  MAC liner in Magenta and MAC lipstick in Impassioned.   Packed MAC glitter on top in Neon 60’s.

Eyes: MAC paint in Untitled, with Lucky 107 Concrete primer.   Morgana Minerals Pumpkin Pie on lid and outer corner of lower lid, Meow’s Tree Fire blended up towards brow and inner corner of bottom lid.   Black Rose Minerals Faye used as a highlighter under brow.  I added just a touch of Morgana Minerals Burning Embers to outer corner crease.  Black liquid liner on upper and lower lids with one coat of black mascara.    For brows I mixed AL’s Sinister Rouge and Meows Firework.

Before whiskers.
Cheshire Cat grin.

In natural light. Me-Ouch!

Quick Face Of The Day-Brown

Had the opportunity to go out to dinner with friends last night and had a couple of requests for a FOTD post so here goes!

Face:  MAC Pro Longwear in NC15, with matching concealer and pressed powder.  I also use a a custom blend glow powder as well.

Cheeks:   Aromaleigh Gothic Lolita blush in Corset.

Eyes:   MAC Paint on lids in Untitled with Fyrinnae’s Pixie Epoxy over that.   MAC’s pigment in Blue Brown applied in outer V and blended up and out, with Morgana Cryptoria in Burning Embers blended into outer lid and a little bit into crease.      This color is also applied to the lower lash line on the outer third.   Silk Naturals Cybertron was applied to the inner 2/3 of the lid as well as the lower lash line, in the middle and blended slightly into the darker color.   Silk Naturals Homecoming Queen was blended into the upper eye lid up to brows.    Meow’s Sexpot was applied under the brows and to inner corners of eyes.  MAC Superslick Liquid Eye in Defiantly Feline on upper lid with a little black pencil liner blended into lower lashes.  One coat of Super Thick Lash mascara in black. Aromaleigh’s Couqille powder in Rose as an under eye brighter and also to sweep away and shadow that may have fallen.

Brows:  Meow Brow Beater in Auburn.

Lips:  Cover Girl Outlast lip stain in #402 with MAC Dazzleglass in Get Rich Quick which is a new favorite.

DIY Lip Gloss (sort of!)

We all know I have a weakness for ‘lip shit’ as my husband calls it. I’ve got lip glosses and balms everywhere: the car, my bedside table (honestly, I think there or two or three there!), several in my purse, two in my desk at work and I’ve been known to find old and petrified tubes of the stuff in strange and out of the way places. I totally blame my cats for the ones I find under the refrigerator. The point is, I’m addicted to the stuff and I’ve tried and used almost every brand out there.

I’ve been using the Skin Actives “Liquid Rainbow” for months now almost exclusively. It’s packed with good stuff and has an iridescent quality to it. It’s pretty thick and a little sticky. Because it reflects so much light it definitely has a bit of a lightning quality as well. It’s super moisturizing and my only wish is that it had a bit more color to it. It looks like a gloss and acts like a balm which is the perfect combo in my opinion!

I recently received my Meow Cosmetics order of the holiday stuff and instantly fell in love with the Ghost Stories Glow in Future. I experimented and added it to my tube of Liquid Rainbow and it’s beautiful! The perfect slightly better than natural lip color!   I just checked and the holiday collections are being retired after they reopen from their break. Rats! I was able to place an order for one as it was still available on the website as of two days ago, so maybe I’ll get a full size after all!  Hurry if you want one.  Also, if you use loose mineral pigments, you should have plenty to choose from just be sure to check the pigment you want to use is safe for lips. Here’s the color in case you want to try to duplicate it and it’s also pretty in powder form  on your eyes.

And a swatch of it:

Comfort Food & Retail Therapy FOTD

I had a chance to play around with a couple of the new Meow colors. Normally I don’t like blue eye shadow on me (unless it’s for a costume look) but I really like Retail Therapy! It’s a beautiful teal color.
